Sydney show the ideal opportunity to explore the full story about franchising

22 March 2019. You might think it is a tough time to stage an expo about franchising, but organisers say they are looking forward to giving the people the opportunity to learn more about the benefits and risks this weekend at the Franchising & Business Opportunities Expo in Sydney.

Event Director Tim Collett says the event has been running for over thirty years and has given thousands of everyday Australians the chance to get into their own business.

He says “the parliamentary inquiry has been a wake-up call for the industry and uncovered some very poor practices. But it does not change the fact that people want to work for themselves and sharing good business models makes perfect sense. There are many good franchise concepts out there and the industry has a bright future”.

Collett adds “the Franchising Expo is independent and gives consumers the chance to learn more about small business options, speak with a range of operators, talk to government agencies and ask the hard questions. There is no hard sell. I urge people to use the event as part of their due-diligence before getting into any business”.

The show will feature over 100 exhibitors including Poolwerx, Walker’s Doughnuts, Zarraffa’s Coffee, Wendy’s Milk Bar, Degani, Battery World, Experimac, Speed Queen Laundry, Baskin-Robbins, The Graffiti Eaters, Jim’s Antennas, Gutter-Vac, Miniso, Minuteman Press, Signarama and many more.

There are also new business concepts including Flatpack Assembly Services, Happy Pics Photography, Okami Japanese Restaurant, Zadi Training, Jon Smith Subs, Tezgopool, Supatramp, Scope IT Education, Powerful Points and Loaded Caffeine Hit.

Free seminars will help visitors to understand the difference between franchises, finding a business that matches your skills, success strategies and pitfalls to avoid. There will be inspiring stories by Andrew Morello from Yellow Brick Road, Snap Franchising CEO Peter Sinodinos and DC Strategy’s Chairman Rod Young.

“It’s understandable that many people have questions about the franchising model and that’s a good thing,” says Collett. “At the expo you can meet the people behind the brands, talk to existing franchisees and learn a whole lot more about working for yourself.”
